Police Department

We recognized the value of having our Police Department work in close partnership with our community long ago, and have seen the quality of life in Cockrell Hill steadily improve as a result. Our Community Policing philosophy has created strong alliances with citizens, businesses, schools, other governmental agencies and special interest groups throughout the City. As a result, our crime rates continue to drop each year. 

Working in a Community Policing environment gives our Police Officers opportunities to interact creatively and positively with members of the community on a wide variety of issues.  That community connection brings great job satisfaction. When you couple this with the overall quality of our Police Officers, it’s easy to see why Cockrell Hill Police Department  is a great place to work. 

The Police Department consists of a Chief, Lieutenant, Sergeant, 5 Corporals and Police Officers, in addition to civilian personnel.  After sufficient experience in the department, specialization is available to Police Officers in the areas of Patrol, Investigation, Juvenile Services, Gang Enforcement, and Canine Handling.   An outstanding in-service training program provides officers with extensive, continuous instruction in basic and specialized police techniques.
